Will Mackellar Rising support a particular candidate?
Mackellar Rising will support a strong, community focused independent with integrity who represents the issues and concerns identified in the Mackellar Matters Report, which is the result of extensive community surveys conducted by the non-partisan group, The Voices of Mackellar. Does Mackellar Rising make money?
Mackellar Rising is a volunteer run, grassroots, community movement. 100% of net proceeds from donations and merchandise sold on this website go towards running costs in furthering this objective.
Can I donate to Mackellar Rising?
You can support the movement by raising your voice in conversation or on social media and by wearing our T-shirt or Tote Bag or using our stickers. Mackellar Rising is a volunteer run, grassroots, community movement. Our purpose is to promote community-led, values-based representation underpinned by integrity in the Mackellar electorate. What is the Transparency Pledge?
The Mackellar Rising movement is run through Mackellar Rising Pty Ltd ("MRPL"), an Australian proprietary limited company which is 100% owned by founder, Johanna Geddes, a Mackellar resident. In FY21, MRPL made a loss. The company pays no salaries or fees for services to its founder or network of volunteers and is solely run thanks to their hard work and dedication.
All net proceeds from the sale of merchandise and tickets to any events are used to fund out of pocket running costs. Any surplus net proceeds not required after making allowance for future working capital needs will be donated to the campaign of an Independent MP in the seat of Mackellar, aligned with Mackellar Rising's published values. Any such donations will be made in full compliance with Australian Electoral Commission requirements.
In FY21, MRPL made a loss. MRPL pledges to publish its summarised accounts each year in the name of full community transparency.
